If you’re not aware, JRMCC Arena is currently having a brand new, state-of-the-art $1.1 million ice plant/dehumidifier installed. Our last ice plant was 21 years old and it became more challenging to maintain an aged, outdated system. In fact, we truly lucked out on a couple occasions last season where we almost lost the ice entirely. That would’ve been disastrous, so was time to upgrade. We’re grateful for the La Ronge chief and council along with senior management for making this endeavour possible. This is a major project and we knew that the timeframe for completion would be around the start of the pre-season. We also appreciate the Town of La Ronge/Mel Hegland Uniplex accommodating the Ice Wolves during this time. Barring anything unforeseen, we expect to start our ice installation on September 10 and have it ready for practices on September 16 and the home opener on September 18th.
