“The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) wanted to recognize truth and reconciliation, and the relationship between all of the communities in our league and First Nations and Métis people.”The La Ronge Ice Wolves raised a total of $10,090 through the sale of special orange jerseys commemorating the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Cobe Delaney, former #8 La Ronge Ice Wolf being a local Air Ronge kid, and band member of Lac La Ronge Indian Band, our council donated $1,000 in support of the initiative and to purchase his hockey jersey. It was only fitting that we donate the jersey to JRMCC where it can be hung alongside other local LLRIB alumni. Cobe is a great role model for our youth. We hope that all young athletes look at his jersey, and know they too, can have incredible success. JRMCC provides outstanding opportunities to children, youth and families so that everyone has access to play. It’s so important that all children know they have equitable opportunities, support and access. All the best to Cobe as he heads to college to further his education and hockey career this fall.
