The Team Saskatchewan Steering Committee is aware of inquiries regarding a recent social media post referencing a β2027 International Indigenous Games and Gatheringβ reportedly to be held in Alberta. The Steering Committee has sought clarification from the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) Council. The NAIG Council has confirmed that this event is not affiliated with NAIG and is being organized by an external entity with no involvement from NAIG. Team Saskatchewan would like to reaffirm that its focus remains on the 2028 North American Indigenous Games. The Steering Committee continues to work in alignment with NAIG and remains committed to supporting Indigenous athletes, coaches, and communities through the official NAIG pathway. Team Saskatchewan appreciates the concerns raised by athletes, families, and Provincial Sport Organizations and encourages all stakeholders to rely on information shared through official NAIG and Team Saskatchewan communications.
π Hockey & Health Days 2026 β Thank You, LLRIB Communities! π
(Batch 2 of 2)
Over four incredible days, LLRIB communities came together to celebrate youth, wellness, connection, and the power of sport during Hockey & Health Days 2026. From school visits and community gatherings we had some unforgettable moments with the Stanley Cup Replica. Delivered through INSPIRE 365, Hockey & Health Days brought former NHL players Bryan Trottier and Rich Pilon, alongside community wellness advocate Brandi Bell, into schools, rinks, and community spaces across LLRIB. Together, they shared stories, mentorship, and encouragement β using hockey as a bridge to conversations about confidence, identity, and mental wellness.
We are grateful to every student, family, coach, volunteer, Elder, and community member who welcomed this initiative into their schools, halls, and hearts. This week was about much more than hockey, it was about showing up for our youth, supporting mental and physical wellness, and strengthening connections across our Nation.
A special thank you to: Our visiting NHL alumni and wellness leaders Bryan, Rich and Brandy for inspiring our youth, and delivering programming rooted in wellness and mentorship
JRMCC Sports & Recreation staff and volunteers, led under the leadership of Kevin Roberts, for their leadership and coordination
Our outlying communities for opening their doors and making space for connection
Events like this remind us that investing in youth wellness takes time, presence, and care β and that when communities come together, the impact lasts far beyond the rink.
Tiniki! Thank you all for making Hockey & Health Days 2026 a success. ππ
